So, you might be wondering what we are doing to be more sustainable? Well, we’ve implemented a variety of sustainable business practices and features across all our venues to minimise our environmental footprint, and contribute to Nottingham city’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2028. This includes photovoltaic panels, using locally grown ingredients in our restaurant to reduce our food miles, and recycling water to name a few.

Our venues have been built with sustainability in mind…

With sustainability at the forefront of our operations, you’ll find that The Orchard Hotel has 60 square metres of photovoltaic panels installed for solar energy, reducing our reliance on traditional power sources. As well as this, our biodiverse green roof gardens help with heat retention, while promoting and protecting the local wildlife.

In the Orchard Hotel restaurant, our chefs use fresh herbs grown in our gardens and source ingredients locally, reducing our food miles and supporting local businesses. Additionally, we serve fair trade tea and coffee at all venues, proudly offering Nottingham’s locally sourced 200 Degrees coffee.

At Jubilee Hotel, we recycle water from the lake for toilet flushing, and this sustainable business practice allows us to conserve valuable resources. We’ve also equipped each room with separate bins to encourage guests to recycle, because it’s about our guests contributing to our sustainability efforts too. Also, to cut down on energy usage, we use motion sensitive lighting and LED bulbs in the majority of our rooms, with electronic signage helping to reduce paper waste.

Across our venues, recycled and sustainable materials, including fabrics, carpets, furniture, and even staff uniforms, are used to ensure eco-friendly construction practices.

In our efforts to lower carbon emissions, we offer 8 electric vehicle charging stations on the University of Nottingham campus.

Public transport systems

We also actively encourage guests to use Nottingham’s efficient public transport system, including the NET tram and local bus routes, which provide easy access to the city in under 20 minutes.
