It has been a very busy 6 months since we re-launched with our new branding, with a huge number of things to tweak, perfect, chop, change, update and align for our fresh new approach to hospitality here in the heart of the country.

So it was a lovely moment this week when we heard from the team at Greengage’s ECOsmart that we have been awarded their Silver accreditation for delivering and demonstrating an eco-friendly approach to how we do things around here.

As you can imagine, sustainability is an increasingly critical issue for hospitality and rightly so.

Venues’ green credentials are taken into account in many decisions, especially when it comes to meetings and major conferences or overnight and short-term accommodation.

So becoming ECOsmart certified provides our delegates and guests with industry-recognised reassurance of knowing we have been comprehensively and independently assessed and that we operate in a sustainable way and we’re really proud of our work on this.

Take a look what Andrew Perolls, CEO of Greengage Solutions had to say about us;

‘Nottingham Venues are a great example of embracing environmental and social sustainability at an advanced level. We are so pleased they have achieved the ECOsmart Silver accreditation.

‘An eco-approach is comprehensively embedded in the operations and fabric of the buildings’ with features as diverse as LED lighting, elimination of palm oil, use of recycled ocean plastic in promotional items, using green spaces to encourage biodiversity as well as paying particular attention to looking after the well-being of staff.’

Thanks Andrew!

It is a fantastic achievement considering we have only been operating under our new brand and structure since the summer and is testimony to the hard work of the team in fulfilling our vision of a more sustainable future for hospitality.

This national recognition comes on the back of winning regional accolades as we scooped the Sustainability Award at the BusinessDesk.com “Masters Awards” in the autumn and also made the final of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce Awards for their Excellence in Collaboration category.

It is worth noting that when it comes to sustainability, our people are just as crucial as our places, so we are just as proud to have been accredited as an officially recognised “Real Living Wage Employer” too.

All of this good news is a great way to end the year, in which we have returned to pre-pandemic levels of business and comes amidst a major recruitment drive, with 10 jobs currently available here.

So if you think that working for an organisation that is officially recognised for its sustainable approach to doing business the right way, take a look at our join our team page for more information.

Of course, if you want to come and see some of the steps that we have taken to become more sustainable, we’d love to see you as a delegate or guest in the new year!
