Autumn 2016 welcomed the new ‘Vision for Sport’: the state-of-the-art, purpose-built, £40 million David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham, our wonderful event space on University Park Campus, a sporting facility of world-wide significance which also stages major conferences and events.
Amongst a vast range of exceptional facilities, the Village is home to an ultra-versatile, impressive sports hall the size of 20 badminton courts (88.95m x 44.10m / 3845sq m) which transforms into a flexible conference, exhibition and event arena capable of hosting 3000 delegates. Events held here previously, have included Medical Symposia, Faith Conferences and Award Ceremonies.
The Village’s indoor sporting facilities also feature a climbing wall (ideal for team building activities), a martial arts dojo, a multi-use salle, studio space and a 25m official short course swimming pool. Outside, facilities include a 3G rubber crumb pitch, sand dressed pitch, and netball and tennis courts.
With its close proximity to halls of residence accommodation and the Orchard Hotel & Restaurant, the David Ross Sports Village provides a unique event space in Nottingham for sports and event organisers.

Hotel guests may use the gym and swimming pool facilities at David Ross, free of charge (subject to availability). Booking can be done via our reception team.
Should you be staying with a large group and wish to swim, you will need to contact the booking team to find out further details on hiring our private lane swimming. They can be contacted Monday-Friday via e-mail. [email protected],
The David Ross Sports Village is open from 6:30am-10:30pm seven days a week and 8:15am-16:00pm on bank holidays. For further information please see here.
The swimming pool is a 25-metre pool, mostly used for competitions (no flumes or slides), with a temperature of 27.5 degrees which is slightly cooler than most pools due to the competitive nature of the swimmers who use the pool. The pool is therefore not suitable for young families or those under the age of 5 years old. Further information about the types of sessions and changing facilities can be found here.
For safeguarding reasons:
- Children must not be on site unsupervised.
- If brought to the facility, they must remain under the care of a responsible adult at all times.
